Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
EdPsychEd Ltd, October 2026
About this statement
EdPsychEd Ltd's annual turnover is below the £36 million threshold in section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, so we are not required to publish a statement. We publish this one voluntarily because we work for public bodies and want to be open about the steps we take. This is our first statement. It describes our business and supply chain as at October 2026, the steps we have taken so far and the steps we will take over the coming year. It is set out under the six headings suggested in section 54(5) of the Act.
(a) Our structure, business and supply chains
EdPsychEd Ltd is a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 12925284). It is run by its two directors, Dr Richard Skelton and Dr Jenny Dutton, both educational psychologists, who work from home offices. The company has no premises of its own. We design and deliver online professional development for school staff, local authority professionals and families. Our main programme, EBSA Horizons, is licensed to local authorities in England and Wales.
Our supply chain is small. It includes:
- three UK-based specialists who work for us as sole traders or through their own company: our content author and course lead, our platform maintenance contractor, and our learner support and administration contractor;
- other course authors, including a local authority, who are paid royalties on sales of their courses;
- occasional small design jobs bought through an online freelancing platform, which involve no access to personal data or our systems;
- software and cloud services, including our online learning platform, and IT equipment;
- professional services such as accountancy and insurance;
- venue hire or catering, if a contract needs an in-person event.
(b) Our policies on slavery and human trafficking
On 15 October 2026 the directors adopted an anti-slavery and human trafficking policy. It applies to the directors, any employee, our contractors and our suppliers. The policy commits us to:
- pay everyone who works for us fairly and on time, and pay any employee at least the National Living Wage;
- check the right to work of anyone we employ before they start, and never hold identity documents or charge recruitment fees;
- include anti-slavery, fair working and prompt payment terms in our written agreements with contractors;
- check that our larger technology suppliers publish a modern slavery statement or policy, and review our supplier list each year.
Anyone can raise a concern in confidence with either director and will not be treated unfairly for doing so. If someone may be in immediate danger we call 999. We report any other suspicion to the police or the Modern Slavery Helpline (08000 121 700), and to our client where a contract requires it.
(c) Due diligence
Under our subcontractor management procedure, adopted on 15 October 2026, we confirm a new contractor's identity and business status before they start, and no new work starts without a signed written agreement that includes anti-slavery, fair working and prompt payment terms. Two of our three current contractors have worked with us since 2021 and the third since August 2025. We will put written agreements with these terms in place with all three by 1 November 2026. We will check that our larger technology suppliers publish a modern slavery statement or policy, and we will review our supplier list each year.
(d) Risks and how we manage them
We judge our overall risk to be low. Our services are delivered online by a small team of UK-based professionals, and we buy few physical goods. The areas of higher risk are:
- the manufacture of IT equipment;
- outsourced or freelance services that may be carried out by low-paid workers outside the UK;
- cleaning and catering at any venue we hire for an in-person event a contract needs.
We will buy equipment from established suppliers that publish modern slavery statements, use UK-based contractors where we can, check the terms and location of any freelance work we buy through online platforms, and ask venues about their own policies.
(e) Effectiveness
As this is our first statement, we have no results yet against the indicators below. We will report against them in our next statement:
- the proportion of contractors with a written agreement that includes anti-slavery terms (target 100% by 1 November 2026);
- the proportion of key suppliers whose statements or policies we have checked in the year (target 100%);
- the proportion of directors, employees and contractors who complete modern slavery training within 90 days of joining (target 100%);
- the number of concerns raised and how each was resolved.
We already pay our suppliers promptly. Between 1 May 2025 and 30 April 2026 we paid all supplier invoices within 30 days.
(f) Training
Both directors completed modern slavery awareness training on 15 October 2026. New employees and contractors will complete it within 90 days of joining, and everyone will refresh it every two years.
Approval
This statement was approved by the directors of EdPsychEd Ltd on 15 October 2026. We will update it by 30 April 2027, and then review and republish it each year within six months of our financial year end on 31 October.
