Emotionally Based School Avoidance
EBSA Strategy Grids:
Evidence-Based Interventions for Child, Home & School
from Dr Jerricah Holder
Once you've identified the specific risk and resilience factors affecting a child through assessment, you need practical, evidence-based strategies to address them. These comprehensive strategy grids provide targeted interventions organised around three key areas to help you move from understanding to action.
What are the EBSA Strategy Grids?
The Strategy Grids are a practical resource designed to help schools, families and professionals develop person-centred support plans for children experiencing attendance difficulties.
These aren't checklists to be ticked off. Instead, they serve as an ideas bank you can return to when exploring different approaches linked to areas of risk identified as significant for each child, as well as resilience factors where they'd like to see positive change.
Some children may benefit primarily from home-based interventions, others might need school-based support like a safe space or key adult relationship, while many require a coordinated approach across all three areas.
